The search for San Bernardino City Unified’s new superintendent has moved into the input phase, and the public will have various opportunities to give feedback starting next week.
The Board of Education invites the public to attend a community forum on Monday, November 14 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Dr. Margaret Hill Community Room at the Board of Education building, 777 North F in San Bernardino. This forum will be offered in a hybrid format, with both in–person and online opportunities, to provide input to the search firm hired by the Board to help recruit candidates to lead the District. Online participation is limited to the first 500 people who register. Spanish interpretation will be provided. Interpretation in other languages, including ASL, is available upon request.
The Board of Education will then discuss the search criteria in a public workshop on Tuesday, November 15 at 4 p.m., also in the Dr. Margaret Hill Community Room. This workshop will also be open to the public both in person and online. Input from the public will help the Board refine its search, as well as help trustees craft interview questions for finalists. Last month, the Board of Education hired McPherson & Jacobson, LLC to lead the search for SBCUSD’s next leader. The executive search firm will accept applications until November 30. In December, the firm will vet applicants and present the top candidates to the Board, with a contract offered to the finalist in early February 2023. The firm started the search process last month with a public survey that closes on November 18. The public’s feedback is critical to identify the leadership qualities most important to the community and to help the Board choose the next superintendent for California’s seventh-largest school district.
