Thinkwise Credit Union will officially adopt Middle College High School on Wednesday, November 1 at 11:30 a.m.
The adoption ceremony formalizes the existing relationship between Thinkwise and many San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) high schools. The credit union has been offering the Bite of Reality program to high school students for a few years. The event helps students understand what life is really like by forcing them to pay for real-world needs like housing, utilities, food, and transportation while staying within a budget. Students often begin by spending their virtual money on non-essentials like expensive vacations and entertainment before realizing that won’t leave them enough to pay the bills.
As part of the adoption agreement, Thinkwise will continue providing Bite of Reality at Middle College, as well as support the end-of-the-year picnic and field trips for students to tour college campuses.
Middle College High School offers qualifying students the opportunity to take classes at San Bernardino Valley College at the same time they are taking high school courses. Students have the potential to graduate high school with a diploma and an associate’s degree.
Middle College High School is located at 1260 W. Esperanza Street in San Bernardino. All visitors must check in at the front office immediately upon arrival.
